NOUVADerm Laser delivers precisely calibrated light energy into the skin to target pigment, redness, and texture irregularity. The light energy is absorbed by the chromophores (the colored targets) you’re trying to fade — brown spots, broken capillaries, sun damage — while the surrounding healthy skin is left alone. Over the next 7–14 days, the pigment darkens and lifts off, redness fades, and collagen remodeling kicks in underneath. Most patients see best results after a series of 3–5 sessions spaced 3–4 weeks apart.
NOUVADerm is a skin-rejuvenation laser — not a hair laser. It targets the visible imperfections that make skin look uneven: sun damage and brown spots, melasma, rosacea and diffuse redness, broken capillaries (spider veins on the face), texture irregularities, large pores, and the dullness that comes with chronic sun exposure. Used in a series, it brightens overall tone and softens the texture changes that no skincare alone can fix.
Full face — the most-requested area, often paired with microneedling for compounding glow. Neck & chest (décolleté) — the area that ages faster than the face and responds beautifully. Hands — sun spots on the back of the hands fade dramatically. Targeted spots — individual brown spots, broken capillaries, or scars treated as a spot session. Pre- and post-care is provided in writing before your first session.
Two things make NOUVADerm Laser less safe and less effective: a recent tan and a recent self-tanner. Both raise the melanin in your skin, which changes where the laser deposits its energy. Marissa’s protocol asks for two weeks free of tanning beds, sunless tanner, and direct sun before each session, and daily SPF in between. The reward is faster results and zero post-treatment surprises. The series is best run in fall and winter for that reason. Pregnancy, recent Accutane, and certain photosensitizing medications also require timing adjustments — reviewed in the consultation.
